\u00a0 \u00a0Monvigliero<\/a> is considered the Grand Cru of Verduno. This vineyard presents itself as a natural amphitheater in the southeastern sector of the Municipality of Verduno, which corresponds to the northern boundary of the Barolo DOCG production area. It is the village’s reference cru, both in terms of prestige and production weight, with its 25 hectares of vineyards.<\/p>\n

The predominant exposures are warm, facing south, and the altitude varies between 250 and 300 meters above sea level. This altitude represents the so-called “classic range” where all the most famous crus are found.<\/p>\n

From a landscape perspective, it is a MGA<\/a> (Additional Geographical Mention) watershed that separates the Barolo area from the Tanaro river valley. This means that, from a climatic point of view, Monvigliero is characterized by a constant circulation of humid air due to the proximity of the river.<\/p>\n

Equally significant is the soil profile; Monvigliero consists of laminated fossil-rich marls of Sant’Agata. These are very thin layers composed of high percentages of silt and clay with very little sand. It is a very compact and fine soil that retains water reserves.<\/p>\n

The organoleptic profile is well recognizable, especially in the aromas of medicinal herbs, roots, and spices. The structure and balance make it a Barolo of spicy elegance!<\/p>\n

In 1978, the first pure Monvigliero was vinified by Giovan Battista Alessandria, and since then, it has been successfully followed by about twenty producers!<\/p>\n
