In Verduno, the land is not just where our vines grow: it is an inheritance we have received and a responsibility we must pass on intact to future generations. For nearly two centuries,<\/a> our family has cultivated this corner of the Langhe with a simple and profound idea: maintaining a delicate balance between people and nature.<\/p>\n

Today, this philosophy takes shape through concrete, measurable, everyday actions. Reducing the environmental impact of our winery in Verduno is not a trend\u2014it is a responsibility. It is our way of giving something back to the land that has given us everything.<\/p>\n

Verduno, Langhe and responsibility<\/h3>\n

Producing Barolo in Verduno means safeguarding a unique heritage. The hills, the historic crus, the biodiversity that surrounds us: every choice we make in the vineyard and in the cellar has real consequences for this fragile ecosystem.<\/p>\n

That is why we believe sustainability is not a label, but a journey. A path made of small, coherent steps, capable of adding value over time.<\/p>\n

Our commitment to the environment: solar energy and water recovery<\/h3>\n

For us, sustainability begins with the management of primary resources. In recent years we have invested in structural solutions to make our production cycle more virtuous.<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udf1e Energy from the sun<\/strong>
Thanks to photovoltaic panels, we produce clean energy for our cellar, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udca7 Every drop counts<\/strong>
We use a rainwater collection well for vineyard treatments. In this way, we preserve potable water reserves and optimize the use of natural resources.<\/p>\n

\u267b\ufe0f Responsible materials<\/strong>
At every stage of packaging, we prioritize recyclable materials, in line with a circular economy vision.<\/p>\n

Why lighten the bottles?<\/h3>\n

Glass is a noble and recyclable material, but its weight has a significant environmental impact. According to OIV data, glass accounts for about 74% of the wine industry\u2019s carbon footprint.<\/p>\n

This figure led us to a concrete reflection: if we truly want to reduce wine\u2019s impact on the planet, we must start right here.<\/p>\n

Joining the Slow Wine manifesto<\/h3>\n

For this reason, Fratelli Alessandria has wholeheartedly joined the Slow Wine Coalition<\/a>\u2019s call to action<\/a>. The Slow Food manifesto asks that, by the end of 2026, the average bottle weight drop below 450 grams.<\/p>\n

We chose not to wait.<\/p>\n

Our new Albeisa Leggera<\/h3>\n

Starting this year, for all our wines, we have replaced the classic Albeisa with the new Albeisa Leggera<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The change:<\/strong> from 575 g to 450 g
The benefits:<\/strong>
\u2013 reduced carbon footprint in shipping
\u2013 lower energy consumption in production and recycling
\u2013 concrete support for a truly circular economy<\/p>\n

It is a quiet choice, almost invisible at first glance, yet capable of generating a real impact \ud83c\udf31<\/p>\n

Tradition means continuity<\/h3>\n

For us, sustainability means something very simple: ensuring that, one hundred years from now, a successor will still be able to produce Barolo from the same crus we cultivate today in Verduno.<\/p>\n

It is an act of gratitude toward the past and responsibility toward the future.<\/p>\n

We invite all wine lovers to support this choice. Because a wine, to be truly great, must also respect the land that gives it life.<\/p>\n

In Verduno, tradition is not immobility: it is continuity.<\/p>\n
